Core to Lineage’s culture is its values – safe, trust, respect, innovation, bold and servant leadership. They guide the behavior of our nearly 19,000 team members globally and influence the decisions we make as a business. It’s a no brainer, then, that at the foundation of Lineage is an authentic and relentless commitment to creating a diverse, equitable and inclusive workplace.
I joined the team in March to spearhead Lineage’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I) initiatives worldwide, and I have been blown away by the team’s genuine enthusiasm for and dedication to becoming even better informed, even more compassionate members of their communities. It’s clear to me that what runs deep at Lineage is the inherent understanding that diverse backgrounds, perspectives and ways of life fuel more creative thinking and a license to challenge boundaries – so we can provide the best and safest service to our customers, develop world-class innovative solutions, as well as being recognized as an “Awesome Place to Work”.
As part of our DE&I journey, I’m proud to announce that Lineage is hosting two companywide events in the month of June to recognize Pride, which is dedicated to the uplifting of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) voices, the celebration of LGBTQ culture and the support of LGBTQ rights. These events include:
- An educational session hosted by GLAAD (Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) to help build an understanding of LGBTQ language and allyship, cover the most pressing issues impacting the LGBTQ community today and focus on ways to create an even more welcome and accessible workplace.
- A fireside chat and Q&A with Katie Sowers, NFL coach for the Kansas City Chiefs and the first woman to coach in the Super Bowl and first openly gay coach in the NFL; Katie will share her experiences as a visionary coach and a lesbian driving change, her perspectives on the need for and benefits of DE&I and how to find your “why” while paving the way for equality in the workplace
I am so grateful to both GLAAD and Katie Sowers for joining our initiative and sharing their wisdom as we better educate ourselves on the LGBTQ community and work together to ensure our LGBTQ team members feel seen, heard, included and valued every day they come to work at Lineage.
We, like so many, are on an infinite journey of education, improvement and continuous positive change – and this is just one way we’re walking the walk, not just talking the talk.
